Senior Management

Craig Allen

Managing Director

Craig Allen has over 28 years of experience in the construction industry, much of it spent in civil engineering earthworks, road works, concrete structures and commercial building. In his many career positions he has gained a thorough knowledge of planning, estimating and costing, spending many years onsite in supervisory and project management roles, and more recently, managing the direction and corporate governance of the business.

Stuart Stoker

Chief Financial Officer

Stuart graduated from the University of Wollongong with a Bachelor of Commerce followed by a Masters of Business Administration from AGSM. Stuart is a CPA, a member of the Australian Society of Accountants and an Associate Member of the Australian Society of Accountants. Since joining Waterway in 2007, Stuart plays a pivotal role in strategic planning, in addition to financial management and reporting.

Stephen Mitchell

National Pre-Contracts Manager

Stephen is a qualified civil engineer who worked for Transfield and Multiplex Constructions before joining Waterway Constructions in 2000 providing construction solutions for projects including APLNG Materials Offloading Facility, Brisbane Ferry Terminal Reconstructions, Iron Cove Bridge Piers and the Sydney Wharf Upgrade Program. Stephen is now responsible for the tendering and bid management across the company.

Adam Knight

National Operations Manager

Adam is highly experienced in the design and construction of maritime structures. After graduating with First Class Honours in 1994, Adam spent 13 years in the consulting engineering industry both in Australia and the UK. Adam joined Waterway Constructions in 2007 as a Senior Project Manager before being appointed NSW Manager and Regional Manager. As National Operations Manager, Adam is responsible for the delivery of all the company's projects.

Alan Millar

National Engineering Manager

Alan graduated from the University of Sydney with first class honours before working with Hyder Consulting in London for a number of years before joining Waterway. Alan is instrumental in developing design solutions and construction methodologies for our project works, and also the development of the company's plant capabilities.

Alex Hickton

Business Development Manager

Alex is a graduate from the Royal Military College, Duntroon and holds a Masters of Engineering Science (Project Management) and a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from UNSW. His 10 year career in the Australian Army included remote deployments to build infrastructure in Aboriginal Communities, the Pacific Islands and Indonesia before commencing a career in commercial construction at John Holland. Alex joined Waterway Constructions in 2012 and is responsible for identifying new business opportunities and, in consultation with the Senior Management team, assist in the conversion of these opportunities into new work.

Tony Matthews

Northern Region Operations Manager

Tony has a strong background in major project delivery of marine projects including the Oil & Gas Gorgon Jetty Project ($2 billion) and Port Botany Expansion ($520 million) in the last 7 years where he held senior construction management roles. Since joining Waterway in 2015, Tony has successfully delivered significant remediation projects for the Department of Defence across two Navy sites on Sydney Harbour. His role as Northern Region Operations Manager sees him providing support and management to the Operations team on projects as well as for facilitating the key client interaction and liaison.

Ben Hiley

Southern Region Operations Manager

Ben graduated with Honours in Bachelor of Construction Project Management and has been a long term member of the Waterway team, since 2005, having worked as an undergraduate at Waterway. He has held Project Engineer roles before moving into a Project Manager position and most recently promoted to Southern Region Operations Manager.

Ben has significant experience in delivering ferry transport structures and in particular has managed complex procurement of overseas fabricated and coated steel structures having delivered four ferry terminals with offshore fabrication. 

Ben has recently delivered a $20 million project involving the construction of three new ferry terminals on the Brisbane River.
