Sheet Piling

Waterway Constructions has undertaken a number of sheet piling projects involving the construction of coffer dams associated with pipeline installation and for the containment of contaminated material. Works have included both conventional sheet pile sections but also larger HZ wall profiles.

Mayfield Berth #7

Materials Offloading Facility

Waterway Constructions has designed and constructed a Materials Offloading Facility in Gladstone, Queensland. The work involved the design and construction of a Roll-on Roll-off (Ro-Ro) and Lift-on Lift-off (Lo-Lo) wharf which is within Gladstone Harbour.

BHP Sheetpile Wall

Construction of an 880m long in-river sheet pile wall to contain contaminated sediments. Sheet piles up to 28m long were vibrated through very dense sands using four floating crane rigs and a 550 tonne land based crane.

Yarra River Sewer Crossing

The project consisted of replacing the Melbourne Main Sewer, from Port Melbourne to Docklands. The river crossing was installed inside a wet cofferdam in three stages to minimise disruption to river traffic. The pipe was installed underwater in 5m, 10m and 20m sections. Sheet pile cofferdams were installed at each end to allow access shafts to be constructed.

Homebush Bay Remediation

Designed and construction of a 730m long sheet pile wall to allow excavation of contaminated soils. The design was optimised by the incorporation of a rock bund.
