Sydney Wharf Upgrade Program

Waterway Constructions has been contracted to construct 13 new steel and concrete ferry wharves in Sydney Harbour, incorporating a pontoon or a hydraulic loading platform to allow disabled access.

Currently 10 of the new wharves have been constructed and ferry services resumed. Completion of the remaining 3 wharves are in progress and once finalised will provide further upgraded travel facilities for commuters.

The project has required heavy community interaction and engagement during the duration of the installation works, which is ongoing.

Project Scope Includes:

  • Demolition of the existing wharves,
  • Drilled and driven steel piles,
  • Pre-cast concrete headstocks and slab panels,
  • Insitu concrete decks,
  • Electrical services,
  • Steel pontoons and gangways with architectural roofing,
  • Hydraulic loading platforms and ramps,
  • Land access gangways,
  • Shelters with glass walls, services pod and
  • Ticketing and surveillance systems.
