Client: NSW Maritime
Capabilities: Construction, Piling, Seawalls
Region: Sydney (New South Wales)
Completed: January 2001

Construction of a 639m long x 12m wide wharf consisting of a concrete deck supported on steel piles to provide new commercial wharf facilities in Rozelle Bay, Sydney.

The works included:

  • the installation of 6,000 linear metres of steel tube piles up to 28m deep
  • Casting of 2700 cubic metres of concrete to the deck structure
  • replacement or 260 linear metres of seawall
  • installation of 1400 linear metres of timber kerbs and fendering
  • Installation of 1600 tonnes of asphalt pavement with associated drainage works

Because of the innovative design proposed by Waterway Constructions, this 7600 square metre wharf was designed and built in less than 6 months.

The cost of the new wharf was substantially less than the original proposal to repair the wharf.
