Overseas Passenger Terminal Extension - Circular Quay

The $14.6m project increased the berthing length of the Overseas Passenger Terminal wharf by 60 metres as well as providing a mooring dolphin to assist passenger ships berthing at Circular Quay, Sydney Harbour.

Construction works were undertaken whilst the Terminal remained operational, with ships berthing alongside.

Waterway Constructions utilised both land-based and marine based plant to expedite the program.

The scope of works included:

• 72 metres sheet pile wall
• 28 x vertical and 8 x 1:3 raked 610mm diameter tubular pile wharf installation
• 4 x 1:6 raked 1200mm diameter dolphin pile installation
• 11 x Pre-cast concrete headstocks and 94 x infill panels
• 14 x ground anchors drilled through piles
• Construction of 6m diameter x 3m deep circular mooring dolphin
• 250 cubic metre insitu concrete deck pour
• 1200 tonne of rock backfill
• Over 4000 anodes (cathodic protection)
• Placement of scour protection
• Commercial diving works
• Marine plant, craneageand vessel operations
• Fender installations
• Electrical works
• Seabed profiling
