The $14.6m project increased the berthing length of the Overseas Passenger Terminal wharf by 60 metres as well as providing a mooring dolphin to assist passenger ships berthing at Circular Quay, Sydney Harbour.
Construction works were undertaken whilst the Terminal remained operational, with ships berthing alongside.
Waterway Constructions utilised both land-based and marine based plant to expedite the program.
The scope of works included:
- 72 metres sheet pile wall
- 28 x vertical and 8 x 1:3 raked 610mm diameter tubular pile wharf installation
- 4 x 1:6 raked 1200mm diameter dolphin pile installation
- 11 x Pre-cast concrete headstocks and 94 x infill panels
- 14 x ground anchors drilled through piles
- Construction of 6m diameter x 3m deep circular mooring dolphin
- 250 cubic metre insitu concrete deck pour
- 1200 tonne of rock backfill
- Over 4000 anodes (cathodic protection)
- Placement of scour protection
- Commercial diving works
- Marine plant, craneageand vessel operations
- Fender installations
- Electrical works
- Seabed profiling
