The Kurilpa Bridge project offers an excellent opportunity to implement an elegant and enduring link from the centre of the city to the emerging vibrancy of South Brisbane's cultural precinct at West End.

The Bridge must provide linkages for cyclists and pedestrians onto the existing riverside paths and create a legible and visually exciting gateways to the CBD.

The scope of works included supply, transport and installation of steel piles of 900mm and 1200mm diameter using either vibration and driving or down-the-hole hammer (DHH). Construction of rock anchors, temporary false work, excavation of rock arrangement and supply and installation of reinforcement, concrete and concrete plugs.

In addition, temporary works included construction of work platforms to Baulderstone Hornibrook's design and construction of drill rig to Waterway Construction design.

The Kurilpa Pier arrangement incorporates three 900mm diameter bored piles socketted into the strong rock and has been modified to incorporate a beam soffit level of RL1.0.
