Coffs Harbour Jetty Refurbishment

Client: Coffs Harbour Council
Capabilities: Construction, Piling
Region: Coffs Harbour (New South Wales)
Completed: November 2008

Coffs Harbour Jetty is a historical timber structure, originally constructed in 1892 and having undergone a number of modifications during its life plus a major restoration in 1996-1997 by NSW Department of Public Works.

The refurbishment works undertaken by Waterway Constructions in 2008 comprised the full replacement and partial replacement (ie. splicing) of a total of 40 timber piles, replacement of upper and lower capwales, bolting repairs to split piles, and a range of pile repairs including wraps, epoxy encapsulations and cavity repairs.

The project presented a range of difficult conditions, notably large and frequent sea swells and the extreme height of the jetty above water, however the repair works were completed within the clients program and budget requirements.
