Bass Point Berthing Dolphin

Client: Hanson / Patterson Britton
Capabilities: Construction, Piling
Region: Wollongong (New South Wales)
Completed: February 2010

The Bass Point jetty is located on the south coast of NSW and provides for the offloading of aggregate for the nearby quarry.

The work required the construction of a new concrete berthing dolphin including the following elements:

  • installation of 3 vertical tubular steel piles founded into rock;
  • construction of a reinforced concrete pile cap;
  • installation of an arch fender;
  • installation of a ladder and mooring cleat.

The weather and sea condition made this work extremely treacherous, requiring diligent safety and environmental practices. This berth was also kept fully operational during the works.
