Waterway completes three ferry terminal upgrades on the Brisbane River

Brisbane's three upgraded CityCat terminals are in operation.

On 1 May 2014, Lord Mayor Graham Quirk announced Waterway Constructions as the successful tenderer for the project.

He said Waterway Constructions would undertake the three upgrades for the Bulimba, Brett’s Wharf and Hawthorne ferry terminals, at a cost of $17.3 million.

“Each of the ferry terminal upgrades will mean improvements for each structure’s flood resilience, capacity and accessibility,” Cr Quirk said.

“Dual-berth pontoons will improve efficiency at each location, while state-of-art gangways will improve accessibility by maintaining level landings, even as the river rises and falls.

“Waterway Constructions bring a great deal of experience to these upgrades, having previously completed similar large-scale infrastructure projects such as the construction of the Teneriffe Ferry Terminal as well as a number of ferry terminals in Sydney.”
