Waterway Constructions Supports Movember
During November each year, Movember is responsible for the growing of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces in the name of promoting men’s health. A fine upstanding team of twenty two gents from Waterway Constructions chose to donate their face (and dignity) to support the effort this year. The result was some good-spirited competition to see who could grow the best mo and who could raise the most money, all combined with some gentle ribbing to ensure the month was kept lively.
It proved to be a big success as a broad spectrum of staff across our three states teamed together to raise the fantastic sum of $11,661 (ranking us 136th in Australia). Congratulations to both those who participated and also those who donated to the team. The funds support two of the biggest health issues men face in Australia – prostate cancer and depression, with the money directed to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and Beyondblue: The national depression initiative. Both very worthwhile causes considering the largely male workforce at Waterway Constructions and in our industry. Well done everybody. Special mentions go out to George Dimopolous for winning the best mo competition, Mal Hiley for the most donations collected, and of course to all the wives, girlfriends and female colleagues who had to put up with moustaches for a month.
